How can I register to the qualifying round?
Support:
The SDG Innovation Hackathon is organized by country or region. If you are unsure about which region you belong to, please send us an email and we will be happy to assist you in making contact with the appropriate coordinator. You can then register through them.
Question:
What should I do if there is no coordinator in my region?
Support:
  • In this situation, feel free to get in touch with us through email to enroll your team and share your project results.
  • If your team delivers an outstanding project and shows interest in competing in the China Final Round or attending the United Nations event, we might extend an invitation for you to join as an exclusive team.
  • We eagerly anticipate your involvement in advancing this educational initiative in your country or area and hope you will become a member of the SDG community in the future.
Question:
We heard that SDG Innovation Hackathon is participated in by teams. How many people are required to be in each student team?
Support:
  • During the Qualifying Round, participants can choose to assemble teams of 2 to 7 members.
  • At the event held in China, various student teams will be randomly chosen to create several collaboration groups. The composition of these groups may differ based on the total number of entrants, with sizes ranging from 9 to 11 participants.

How can I become a coordinator of SDG Innovation Hackathon?

  • Each organizing committee in countries and regions is required to designate a coordinator responsible for liaising with the international committee.
  • If your institution has not yet become an SDG Local Organizing Committee, please complete the Accreditation Form.
  • If a coordinator is already present in your region, we will arrange an introduction and encourage collaboration to advance SDG education.

Our team has been formed, but how do we take the first step?

  • You can start by selecting a Hack and a Category, where you can find inspiration in the introduction.
  • Then, by reading through the 7 key inquiries posed by the Academic Committee and evaluation criteria on the page "How to Submit", you will gain a deeper understanding of what form and standards are required for the final submission of your project outcomes.

What are the plans for the in-person China Final Round?

Question:
Is it mandatory for all teams to participate in the China Final Round?
Support:
  • No, participation in the China Final Round is not mandatory.
  • For those teams that receive an invitation and plan to participate in the China Final Round, we expect them to convert their project outcomes into paper and poster formats. This is to ensure that their project achievements can be presented in a way that allows for review by experts during the on-site evaluation session, providing an opportunity for further assessment and recognition of their work.

How can one participate in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum?

  • Outstanding teams will have the opportunity to receive an invitation to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum in April 2026.
  • Due to the limited number of spots available and the costs involved such as transportation and accommodation, please take the notice before the event as the final confirmation.
